Jim Redhawk was born in Holdenville, Oklahoma – a citizen of the Mvskogee (Creek) Nation.
A mixture of blood flows through his veins; Creek Indian, English, Irish and French. He is a multi-talented artist taught by the spirits, led by visions, simple but complicated. He is a man at peace with himself, his life, his spirituality, and his universe.
The subject matter of his work comes from inside his DNA and recollected visual stimuli. His work cellebrates the peace and calm before industrialization spread across this great country. His paintings take him back to a time slower and more pure of nature. In his paintings you see evidence of walkers (what he likes to call humans in nature). He composes freehand right on the painting surface for the pure pleasure of it. He is a regional and national award winning painter and sculptor.
He tried many things before he found his passion in life. His latest artful venture is painting
in the style of the Hudson River Painters and the old European Masters. He loves the darks and lights they obtain in their works.
